Activity & Plan

Development of a Mesosphere-Thermosphere GCM of coupled dynamics, energetics, composition and chemistry (above 50km altitudes up to thermopause), by combining the following completed models.

(1) a three-dimensional time-dependent model of dynamics

(solving the momentum equations),

(2) a one-dimensional time-dependent model of energetics and

composition (including NO chemistry),

(3) a one-dimensional time-dependent model of chemistry of

minor-constituent.

Especially, the momentum balance in the lower E-region is of interest at the moment.
