Promotion of interdisciplinary research

A comprehensive research program for coupling processes must be based on a unified viewpoint, which integrates the lower-, middle- and upper-atmosphere processes, connects the equatorial and extratropical regions, and combines dynamical, microphysical, chemical, and electrodynamical approaches which have been typically studied independently. Also, various basic (both technical and theoretical) studies for future research targets such as planetary atmospheres should be encouraged.
